A day in the life of a KIS Specialist Consultant
The KIS Specialist Consultant is responsible for working with the KISS (Kindergarten Inclusion Support Services) Team in the South East Metropolitan region to provide specialist training and consultancy for early childhood educators to contribute to positive outcomes for all children in line with the National Quality Framework and VEYLDF. You will work in accordance with the objectives, priorities, policies, procedures and guidelines of Yooralla and the KISS Program to
- Assist early childhood educators to meet the individual needs of a child with a disability and high support needs or complex medical needs. This may include reasonable adjustments and modifications of the kindergarten program.
- Support all children to access and meaningfully participate in all aspects of the program
- Support the kindergarten team in their use of techniques and implementation of strategies relevant to the children’s program including e.g. Behaviour support and educational strategies.
- Participate in meetings related to KISS service delivery and administration, and assist in the implementation of arising actions.
- In conjunction with the Manager participate and represent the KIS program in relevant internal and external Committees and working groups.
- Recommend, organize, develop and maintain inclusion resources and materials.
- Maintain knowledge of current Early Childhood Teaching, Early Childhood Intervention and Inclusion best practice.
About You

- Prior experience as an Early Childhood Teacher
- Knowledge and experience supporting the inclusion of children with additional needs and their families in Early Education and Care Services
- Strong skills in training, mentoring and supporting staff in Early Education and Care Services
- Commitment to inclusion, family-centred and strengths-based practices
- Creativity, initiative, and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- A current Victorian Driver Licence and the right to work in Australia
- Current Victorian Police Check and Working with Children Check
- Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration
- Early Childhood Teaching Degree (3–4 years) or Diploma in Teaching (essential)
- A higher degree or post-graduate qualification in Early Childhood Education or related field (desirable)
