Duratec (asx: DUR) have a large portfolio of diverse projects across a range of sectors and an established organisational structure to support our operations.

The business operates with a matrix organizational structure, featuring geographic centres managed by State Managers and business sector divisions overseen by National Sector Leads.

THE ROLE

The State Manager will report to and collaborate with the COO, and work with Sector leads to further develop existing business plans and strategy in-line with the overarching business plan.

Lead and inspire our existing local teams with corporate services support, provided from Western Australia. Lead the local precontracts team to capitalise on existing pipelines and develop future opportunities. The State Manager will oversee their own profit and loss centres including overheads, capital expenditure and project Work in Progress.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee and foster new and existing client relationships
  • Build on existing pipeline of opportunities and set strategy to develop opportunities into project awards
  • Oversight, Bid-no-Bid and bid management of tenders
  • Ensure professional, high-quality estimates/tender bid/proposals are prepared, checked and submitted
  • Take ownership of all commercial aspects of the portfolio
  • Analyse and control business unit expenditure to ensure pre-determined project targets and goals are achieved
  • Identify resourcing needs
  • Ensure accountability for delivering efficient and effective results with consistently high standards
  • Participate in monthly operations meetings to ensure all project operations comply with Company management systems, including the compilation, timely and accurate forecasting of project and job final revenues and profit margins
  • Collaborate with Business Sector Leads to develop strategies in the area and promote growth and profitability

Duratec also has interests in PNG within the Oil and Gas Sector. This appointment and the QLD team will support Duratec Operations in PNG by managing logistics, recruitment, and providing a hub for offshore management and labour.

This role provides an experienced and aspiring leader the chance to leverage a national brand in a key market within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Experience

  • 10 years' experience in construction contracting in Australia
  • Experienced leader with a track record of business growth through delivery and strategy
  • Familiarity with Queensland market; able to identify talent and subcontractors
  • Knowledge of Tier 1/2 business systems
  • Proven in growing business units and ensuring sustainability
  • Skilled in contract and project cost management in construction/engineering
  • Experience in client relationship management

Skills/Knowledge

  • Influence teams to meet business goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and professionalism
  • Drive and motivate team members with clear communication and accountability
  • Financial and commercial acumen
  • Ability to identify new projects and ensure successful team bids

Qualifications, Experience and Skills/Knowledge

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Management/Construction Management/ Engineering or similar
  • Police Clearance
