Working closely with the Pre-Contracts Manager and Estimating Leads, the Senior Estimator will be responsible for the accurate preparation, presentation, and follow-up of tenders for Duratec.
Join our dynamic bidding team and contribute to tenders across a wide variety of major construction projects nationwide.
Play a pivotal role in shaping innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions within the estimating process, all while being supported by a collaborative and experienced team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and develop accurate cost estimates, including cost escalation analysis
Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness
Compile accurate quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities
Prepare detailed trade package breakdowns, manage RFQ submissions, and maintain strong subcontractor engagement to ensure pricing accuracy
Review and validate subcontractor pricing, clarifications and exclusions across all disciplines
Identify the need for additional information or clarification through RFIs to ensure complete tender documents
Conduct risk analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering
Coordinate team activities and conduct tender cost estimate review meetings
Support the preparation and development of construction methodologies, programs, and submission documentation
Deliver detailed tenders with traceability and provide support for delivery
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships
Capable of balancing the demands of both minor and major tenders at once, without compromising on accuracy
Continuous mentorship and training to the team of estimators
ABOUT YOU
Your ability to be adaptable and proactive will see that you succeed in this role. You will bring:
Experience working in the construction space, tendering on buildings, civil, engineering, resource, etc. industries
Excellent relationships with local subcontractors and supply chain
Financial and commercial acumen
Interpersonal skills, confident, professional and self-motivated
Attention to detail with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or similar equivalent
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Project
Working knowledge of estimating software (e.g. Pronamics Expert, Bluebeam etc)
