The SMP Engineer works closely with the SMP Services Lead and collaborates with bid and project teams to ensure our projects are set up for success. The role involves:

  • Preparing bid literature for tenders up to $200 million.
  • Supporting project start-up activities including procurement, variations, and engineering support.
  • Reviewing and conducting material and equipment selection.
  • Performing material take-offs, managing RFIs, TQs & client liaison.
  • Review designs and specifications for compliance, cost-effectiveness & value engineering options.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute structural, mechanical, and piping components in construction projects.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates and analyse cost escalation.
  • Compile material quantity take-offs and bills of quantities.
  • Create estimates from first principles using site productivity rates.
  • Validate subcontractor pricing across disciplines.
  • Vetting supplier and subcontractor proposals.
  • Ensure quality documentation & project management systems are complete.
  • Ensure Duratec`s project management systems are complied with.
  • Support construction methodologies, programs, and submission documentation.
  • Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness & compliance.
  • Coordinate team activities and lead tender cost estimate reviews.
  • Consult with stakeholders and maintain positive relationships.

ABOUT YOU

Your ability to be adaptable and initiative-taking will see that you succeed in this role. You will bring:

  • Experience in engineering and resource industries
  • First principal experience with hydraulic/mechanical piping and equipment
  • Prior experience in Defence sector, construction, process and non-process infrastructure, and water/wastewater treatment (highly desirable)
  • Financial and commercial acumen
  • Request additional information via RFIs to complete tender documents.
  • People skills, confident, professional, and self-motivated
  • Diligence with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or similar equivalent
  • Police Clearance
