Live-in position which assists the Coordinator of Residential Education (CRE) with the daily oversight of the Housing and Residential Education (HRE) program within their assigned living area(s). Develops and maintains a positive community to facilitate a beneficial and holistic educational experience for a diverse group of students.

Assists the daily operation of assigned living area(s) of over 700 students. Responds to inquiries from staff, residents, & other parties. Identifies problems & recommends courses of action. Advises & supports students in a variety of personal & interpersonal concerns experienced by students in residence. Establishes a positive community atmosphere promoting academic success, intellection, & personal development. Promotes proactive conflict resolution among roommates & other students providing direct mediation when needed. Develops successful collaborative relationships with the campus community. Promotes RA & Housing & Residential Education (HRE) events, represents HRE at University events, & serves on committees as assigned. Assists in leadership training & development of RAs, student staff, residents, & volunteers to ensure HRE/University expectations for behavior & participation are clearly conveyed. Assists with recruitment, selection, training, & evaluation of RAs. Provides day-to-day oversight of work & development of assigned RAs. Provides on-going review of RAs for purposes of support & assuring effective completion of RA Educational Program requirements & expectations. Reports progress on RA effectiveness & recommends disciplinary action as needed. Assists with planning, implementing, & assessing student staff trainings. Liaises with colleagues to respond to student needs as appropriate. Meets with students to address behavioral, adjustment, roommate, & other concerns. Advises RAs in planning, implementing, executing, & assessing co-curricular programs. Supports student engagement in a variety of academic, curricular, & co-curricular programs. Reviews incident reports on a daily basis & assists with timely & appropriate resolution of conduct issues. Works within guidelines of HRE/University conduct processes with emphasis on educational & developmental outcomes. Meets with students to discuss violations & assign sanctions when appropriate for minor & intermediate-level violations. Interprets & explains HRE standards, expectations, procedures, & developmental/educational goals of conduct process to RAs & residents. Effectively documents meetings & outcomes using conduct database or other modes as appropriate. Provides reports to HRE & DSA leadership. Oversees a special assignment(s) that includes planning & implementing related events, encouraging student involvement & engagement, & collaboration with campus partners to support a seamless learning environment. Assumes day, evening, holiday, & weekend on-call responsibilities in rotation with other HRE staff. Provides assistance for HRE's Summer Conference (SC) program as needed. SC assistance includes customer service, emergency response, & on-call duty support for conference clients. On-call services include crisis & emergency response, facility maintenance, direction & support for the RAs, & conflict resolution for all members of the residential community. Schedule requires significant flexibility to include evening, weekend, & holiday hours as scheduled &/or as needed to respond to urgent issues. Works closely with University Police in the immediate response & resolution of student conduct or health concerns. Produces incident reports, provides direction to RAs & student staff, & provides appropriate conduct, counseling, Title IX/DHR, health center, & other service referrals. Maintains confidentiality of student information at all times in accordance with FERPA requirements & established procedures. Maintains confidentiality of personnel information. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

At least one year of experience as a professional or paraprofessional within housing or related area is required. Must possess the following knowledge and abilities: The personal and social problems typically encountered by present-day college students and the ability to respond to them; working knowledge of group dynamics and needs; current issues and trends in higher education; an understanding of student, staff and leadership development; working knowledge of management techniques, personnel practices, and inventory control; ability to select, train, supervise, and evaluate students; ability to analyze emergency situations accurately and take prompt action; ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications for broader HRE, DSA, and/or University goals; solid administrative and organizational skills such as keeping simple records and accounts (including the ability to effectively utilize computer hardware and software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook); effective interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and others; the ability to work effectively with a population of diverse constituencies in a complex and dynamic environment; the ability to make reasoned and balanced decisions according to established guidelines in moderately complex situations and make referrals or seek counsel when needed; the ability to acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation and functions of the Housing and Residential Education area. Must have thorough knowledge of and proficiency in English grammar, spelling and punctuation; as well as effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to provide presentations. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and some holidays. Preferred qualifications include bachelor's and master's degrees, one or more years of full-time experience as entry-level live-in housing professional, and/or two or more years as a resident assistant, graduate assistant, or paraprofessional staff member in a university housing program. Must be able to work a variable schedule as needed, including evenings and weekends. Must live on campus in University-provided accommodations so that emergency response requirements can be effectively and promptly fulfilled.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
