About the role

Mater at Home Services is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Hospital in the Home team for 8 weeks in a part-time (28.30 a week) opportunity, based at South Brisbane.

As a RN on the Hospital in the Home and Mater at Home Direct team, you will have strong patient-assessment skills, ability to work autonomously, a commitment to quality improvement activities, practice advocacy for the patient, communicate well within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate problem-solving skills to improve patient care outcomes within a community setting. 

Salary range: $40.27 - $51.74 (RN) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients within the community
  • Working collaboratively with the nursing team to provide exceptional care every time
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • Providing hospital substitution care in patient homes

About you

  • Ability to provide a minimum of 2-3 shifts per week of availability
  • Competency in cannulation, venepuncture and catheter care
  • At least 3 years’ experience in acute nursing environments
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with all levels of the multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to problem solve and escalate matters appropriately
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Possess an open driver’s license
  • Possess computer/technology literacy
  • Ability to identify a deteriorating patient
  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Previous experience working in Hospital in the Home Services is desirable
  • Previous work experience in Emergency or General Medicine wards is desirable
  • Competency in providing complex wound care (VACS) and PICC line management is desirable
