About the role

Mater Group Finance has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Officer to join the team on a permanent, full-time basis at our Newstead Corporate offices.

The Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for contributing to the end-to-end accounts receivable process for a dedicated portfolio of customers within the Mater group.

Salary range: $36.52 - $40.81 (MAC 3) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As our Accounts Receivable Officer, your key duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Perform accounts receivable and related activities to ensure finance systems reflect the correct transactions and payments
  • Assist with the day‑to‑day operation of the billing process
  • Liaises with various business units ensuring prompt billing and resolution of queries
  • Responds to customer inquiries on a timely basis
  • Research and investigate discrepancies in invoices to determine the accuracy of charges
  • Manages correspondence with customers, including issuing statements and overdue letters
  • Manages outstanding debts which may include initiating legal recovery and liaising with external debt collection agencies
  • Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure accounts are paid appropriately and long-term debts are followed up
  • Escalates any long outstanding items or discrepancies in information
  • Assist with the month end close process in line with the timetable
  • Answers accounts receivable queries from the broader Financial teams

About you

We are searching for an AR professional who is/has:

  • Recent demonstrated experience in accounts receivable
  • Recent demonstrated experience in successful debt collection
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proficient in ERP systems (Microsoft D365 highly regarded)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • High problem-solving skills
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of debt collection and understanding of legal recovery processes
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Self‑starter, strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
