About the role
Mater Health has an exciting internal opportunity for someone to be our new Assistant Finance Business Partner in a full-time and permanent capacity.
Located at our South Brisbane campus, the purpose of the role is to support the Senior Finance Business Partner in delivering management accounting functions, across the Mater Mother’s Hospitals, Mater Private Hospital Redlands and Allied Health portfolio.
This opportunity is aimed at someone currently studying or a newly qualified person seeking to leverage existing business partnering skills and experience moving into a partnering and advisory focused team.
Salary range: $43.31 – $47.72 (MCA 4) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you will be doing:
As the Assistant Finance Business Partner, you will support the Finance Business Partners to:
- Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and anomalies and provide insights to support decision-making by senior management
- Support ledger integrity and month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journals, accruals and ledger reviews
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies and ensure ledger integrity
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering relevant financial information, preparing budget schedules, and updating forecast models
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable transactions
- Assist in business cases, financial modelling, variance analysis, and grant application administration
- Identify, document, and monitor opportunities and risks and actively participate in Performance and Accountability Framework activities
About you
To be successful in your application, you may have:
- Relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in accountancy, economics, commerce, finance, or related discipline
- Associated relevant professional registration (e.g., CPA or CA qualified)
- Relevant management accounting experience within a large healthcare organisation or complex service organisation
- Knowledge of key accounting principles and practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
