About the role
Mater Hospital Mackay are seeking applications for a Quality & Safety Associate in a permanent, full-time capacity.
The Quality & Safety Associate (“QSA”) is responsible for activities as delegated relating to Quality and Safety Management, across the hospital/service, which are essential to the licensing, service level agreements and contracts.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the Quality and Safety Manager to implement quality and risk management systems, improve the effectiveness of the quality systems, monitor compliance, and support hospital managers in the implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Supporting the Quality and Safety Manager in incident and complaint investigation and management processes.
- Collecting and analysing patient safety and clinical outcome data to evidence for internal and external stakeholders the effectiveness of the quality and safety systems.
- Supporting the ongoing compliance to the National Standards and accreditation processes.
- Supporting the provision of education related to the NSQHS Standards, accreditation, consumers, quality and safety systems and tools
Other information
This full-time role will be performed Monday to Friday with an expectation that hours are across 5 days, however, may vary depending on operational need. Mater recognises the importance of work-life balance and can accommodate flexible work arrangements where possible.

Essential qualifications
• Qualifications in a related discipline
Desired qualifications
• A clinical background with at least 5 years front line experience; and well-developed computer literacy skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in health service delivery with appropriate clinical knowledge, experience and skills is essential including a basic understanding of care processes provided in multiple areas of the hospital.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively on multiple levels within the hospital multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to organise a high-volume workload within agreed timeframes and write correspondence and reports.
- Experience in health care accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement initiatives and their practical application in the achievement of customer service/ consumer delivery needs.
- Strong analytical skills to trend and interpret data and develop reports
- Ability to work collaboratively with hospital teams and apply identified opportunities for improvement to the hospital environment.
