About the role

Expressions of interest are sought from experienced Registered Nurses working with relevant experience to relieve in the position of:  Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialist role for a period of 3 weeks commencing 4th November – 22 November.

Salary range: $61.67 - $69.22 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialty specific support and resource to staff and pts referred through the Orthopaedic service and throughout the continuum of care
  • Providing an ongoing point of contact for patients referred for orthopaedic review and requiring complex surgical interventions inclusive of liaising with patients from outreach communities
  • Work within the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure consistent patient outcomes between the various streams 
  • Provide high quality patient care, ensuring reliable information and education is provided and available for patients and their families
  • Liaise with scheduler/s to ensure appropriate timing procedure/surgery dates of patients who are deemed ready for care
  • Coordinating care throughout the patient journey ensuring access to services and ensuring appropriate follow up in strategies are in place
  • Establishes priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients
  • Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to treatment, assisting/negotiating sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding
