About the role

Maters Finance team is looking for internal expressions of interest for an Accountant to join the team until February 2025! Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant, the Accountant is a process-specific role responsible for assisting in the end-to-end financial reporting function for the assigned portfolio.

Salary range: $99,810 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

• Assisting with the month end close process in line with the timetable
• Preparation of accounting journal entries and review of journals prepared by the Assistant Accountant(s)
• Prepare balance sheet and P/L reconciliations and other information required for statutory reporting note disclosures for assigned entities in a timely and accurate manner
• Follow up and resolve variances in reconciliations in a timely manner and resolve/escalate any long outstanding items or discrepancies in information reconciled
• Prepare accounting calculations and develop/maintain models to support calculation of various accounting requirements, for example, right of use assets, employee benefits, key management personal remuneration etc
• Provide support with the bank reconciliation process (where applicable).
• Assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
• Undertake intercompany accounting processes where applicable
• Prepare funding acquittals in accordance with the timetable
• Ensures transactions entered into GL follow the Group accounting policies and procedures
• Identify internal control issues and improvements and provide support in ongoing process improvements
• Support the external audit process

About you

You will have 2 - 5 years of relevant financial accounting/statutory reporting accounting experience. You will also meet the below criteria:

• Relevant degree qualification (e.g. Economics, Business, Accounting, Commerce) or experience deemed equivalent
• Working towards or willing to commence a Professional Accounting Qualification (CA/CPA)
• Strong understanding of finance month end close process
• Health specific or large/complex sector background highly regarded
• Strong technical accounting skills
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 highly regarded
