An opportunity has become available for a motivated and experienced Operating Theatre Assistant Team Leader working in Mater Hospital Brisbane on a permanent, full-time basis.
As the Operating Theatre Assistant Team Leader, you will assist the Nurse Unit Managers (NUM) in the planning and provision of care to our perioperative patients in Mater Hospital Brisbane. The Team Leader will assist the NUM’s coordinate effective use of resources to ensure a high standard of service delivery for every patient, on every occasion.
Salary range: $41.60 - $45.81 (OOL5) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will be assisting the Operating Theatre NUMs with the coordination, education and accountability of the Operating Theatre Assistants within the Operating Theatres. You will achieve this by:
- Contributing to the delivery of service and operational objectives by assisting the NUMs with the allocation of suitably trained staff and surgery specific equipment for each patient
- Assisting the NUM’s meet their repairs KPI’s, by ensuring equipment is maintained and serviced as per their agreements
- Working with the Education Team to provide the Operating Theatre Assistant (OTA) group with training in the handling of equipment that will minimise risk of damage and costly repairs
- Assisting the NUM’s review policy and work instruction related to manual handling and material safety within the department. The role involves identifying hazards and minimising risk to staff and patients within the unit
- Workplace Health and Safety principles must underpin all aspects of the role and expectation involves working with local and organisational workplace health and safety officers
- You will be Directly involved in building and maintaining relationships with both our external and internal customers. This includes but is not limited to company representatives, external contractors, internal maintenance, medical and nursing teams
- The OTA Team Leader role is accountable to the Theatre NUM’s and shares responsibility with the NUMs for the Operating Theatre Assistants
About you
Our ideal candidate is a strong leader who is open to innovation, new ways of thinking and has the ability to promote and lead their team. The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 3 years in similar role and relevant experience in a Theatre Team Leader role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and have used in a previous role
- The ability to problem solve and lead a team
- A clear understanding WPHS principals and management of risk within a theatre environment
- Experience in being able to support conflict management in the workplace
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (desirable)
