About the role
Mater Hospital South Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the team on a permanent part time basis 24 hours per week.
Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) as Registered Nurses at Mater Health Services practice within the relevant Standards for Nurses/Midwives as per the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and other legislation, standards and codes that can impact or inform the evidence-based practice of Nursing and are accountable for their own practice.
Salary range: $66.85 - $72.58 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible for providing clinical expertise, consultancy and education to staff within Mater Health South Brisbane to enable them to provide safe clinical nursing services to patients.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Attending all Clinical Codes- MET /Code Blue as the Nursing Code Team Leader within your allocated areas within the South Brisbane campus between the hours of 1830 – 0700hr
- To provide clinical support afterhours for High risk patients
- Provide direct patient care when required and to facilitate clinical transfers to expedite assessment of at-risk patients and or to expedite transfer to Critical Care areas- i.e. ICU / CCU / Emergency / Birth suites and Operating Theatres
- Reviewing of all ICU discharges on the day of discharge to wards
- Review of all Code (MET /Code Blue) patients in the previous 24hr
- Provide an organisational awareness of the most at risk and to communicate this to senior afterhours management and to collaborate with medical staff at safety huddles
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Minimum of 5 years+ experience in a Critical Care Area- ICU or Emergency
- Extensive experience practicing as a Registered Nurse with high-risk patients with the ability to provide expert clinical advice
- Extensive leadership experience within a critical care unit in a complex hospital environment
- Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing and prioritizing
- Qualifications in Critical Care (ICU) or Emergency (desired)
