About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane are looking for an Elective Surgery Coordinator to fulfill a full time maximum term contract, 10/07/2025 – 23/07/2025.

The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical expertise and care relevant to the management and coordination of the elective surgery waitlist and the elective surgery scheduling in line with elective surgery services Implementation Standards (ESSIS).

Salary range: $66.85 - $72.58 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The position of the Elective Surgery Coordinator will assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate best practice in the management of access to elective surgery in public hospitals.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for Elective Surgery Services reporting and analysis to the Mater Health ADCS – Perioperative and Procedural Services
  • Co-ordinate, supervise and organise the elective surgery waiting lists and overview of the operating theatre lists
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategies in accordance with Queensland Health Elective Surgery Services Implementation Standard, for the management of access to elective surgery in consultation with statewide Elective Surgery Committee
  • Provide direction and guidance on the development of improved elective surgery booking
  • Liaise and consult with key stakeholders relating to elective surgery management
  • Responsible for validating the hospital’s waiting list data by regular audit and consult with the clinicians
  • Responsible for assessing, analysing, validating data, and escalation of key performance indicators for elective surgery to the Elective Surgery Committee and provide reports to corporate services
  • Responsible for orientation of new medical staff in the principles of wait list management
  • Proactively identify and manage risks with elective surgery and escalation to Nursing Director Surgical Stream
  • EOM data for Elective Surgery waitlists and throughput to Mater Health and Qld Health

About you

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Proven experience managing and coordinating elective surgery services
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of Queensland Health Elective Surgery Services Implementation Standard and other relevant regulations
