About the role

Mater at Home has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and team-oriented Dietitian to join our community multi-disciplinary allied health team in a Full-Time position based at our South Brisbane Campus.

This position will be full time for 6 months, after which it will remain a permanent position although may reduce to 30.4 hours per week. This position reports directly to the Mater at Home clinical lead dietitian and indirectly to the Mater at Home Director.

The purpose of this role is to provide a comprehensive, high quality, evidence-based Dietetics service to community-dwelling adult clients. The workload encompasses a broad range of clinical presentations and requires a broad skillset. You might be required to travel to various locations in the Brisbane area, to provide individual and group-based therapy, to provide face to face and telehealth services, and to cover clinics. Mater at Home possesses a fleet of vehicles to complete this work. The goals of Mater at Home include, but are not limited to, improving health in the community, preventing hospital admissions, and providing continuity of care between hospital and home.

Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Independently managing an allocated clinical workload to deliver professional level Nutrition and Dietetic services to community-based adult clients within a multidisciplinary team environment, in accordance with professional and ethical standards
  • Undertaking nutrition assessment, implementation and evaluation tasks within well-established clinical and departmental protocols, policy and procedures, utilising evidence-based practice principles.
  • Working within varying social and environmental constraints and funding  requirements  by applying clinical judgement to all situations that arise within the patient/client’s place of residence.
  • Communicating and coordinating care with allied health staff, families, support workers, treating medical teams, and GPs.
  • Contributing to quality improvement projects and service improvement activities.
  • Participating in professional development planning and supervision.
  • Being open to, and involved in the development of, new possibilities or ideas for the delivery of healthcare in the community.
  • Providing support for students and/or allied health assistants as required.

Leadership

  • Manage a clinical workload within a geographical area under the supervision of a Team Leader.      
  • Work closely with other community care providers.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to: 

  • Possess Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status.
  • Be eligible to receive a provider number through Medicare.
  • Hold or be eligible to receive a current Working with Children Check, Disability Working Screening check and Police Check.
  • Hold a current open Queensland Driver’s license. 
  • Demonstrate ability to manage a wide range of clinical conditions. Experience greater than 2 years of clinical dietetics is desirable
  • Be adaptable to the types of services provided in line with the needs of the organisation.
  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and be comfortable with working autonomously in the community.
