About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is currently searching for a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse to join our Medical Ward 9A! We have two vacancies available:
1 x maximum term opportunity for 3 months, 32 hours per week
1 x maximum term opportunity for 6 months, 38 hours per week
Ward 9A is a 27-bed multidisciplinary ward which cares primarily for older public patients, encompassing a diverse range of specialties including Cardiac, Respiratory, Endocrine, Dermatology and infectious conditions. We also provide a renal dialysis service, leading to a subsequent increase in the renal inpatient service.
Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Whilst maintaining the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and the continuum of care
- Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of emergency procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
As a Clinical Nurse you will support the Nurse Unit Manager in the operational management of the ward, with a focus on the provision of leadership and provide clinical expertise and knowledge to junior team members. This includes operational management functions of human and material resources relevant to the speciality. In addition, you will also be required to initiate problem solving skills, participate in education and staff development, contribute strongly to the quality/accreditation process and ultimately aim at improving patient care outcomes relevant to their clinical area.
About you
- Current AHPRA registration
- Minimum of 3 years Acute Nursing experience, preferably in a medical environment
- Post graduate qualification will be highly regarded
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, able to communicate effectively demonstrable clinical skills and be able to work on own initiative. Further, you will be committed to providing quality care and service to patients and their families.
