About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to temporarily take on the role of Emergency Department Nurse Unit Manager. This is a maximum-term position, covering the leave of our esteemed NUM Megan Quabba from 2nd June for a 5-week period.

Salary range: $71.42 - $76.80 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Emergency Department
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of dedicated perioperative staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care within established policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and departments to optimize patient outcomes and streamline service delivery
  • Monitor and manage departmental budgets, resources, and equipment to maintain optimal operational efficiency
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, adhering to relevant accreditation and regulatory standards
  • Foster a culture of continuous professional development, providing mentoring and support to staff in their career progression
  • Promote a strong focus on patient safety, infection control, and risk management practices

 About you

As an experienced leader you will drive innovation in your field; using evidence-based research to suggest new ways of doing things and take a positive and adaptive approach to embedding change.

Other skills and responsibilities include:

  • Extensive experience in an Emergency Department or Critical Care environments with sound clinical expertise
  • Current AHPRA Nursing registration
  • Ability to demonstrate strong capability in leading both the clinical and commercial aspects of a tertiary service
  • High level communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated competence in cost center management
  • Willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
