About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant in Nursing to join the team in a permanent, full-time role.
You will work as part of an established proactive team supporting Registered and Enrolled Nurses in the provision of safe, quality patient care. You will gain extensive experience with the opportunity for career progression.
The Mater Private Hospital Mackay has been providing excellence in clinical and pastoral care to the people of Mackay and its surrounds since 1927. Our hospital is a modern 105-bed facility featuring five operating theatres and a wide range of specialist clinical services.
Salary range: $33.20 - $36.35 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
The Assistant in Nursing assists and supports the clinical teams in providing safe and quality patient-centred care under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse. Exciting opportunity to work in a hospital environment whilst completing your training. Preference given to staff for post-graduate nursing positions.
- Assist in the provision of care and support of patients within the scope of Assistant in Nursing practice, professional expertise and recognised competencies;
- Adhere to care plans to contribute to the optimal care outcomes in collaboration with members of the clinical team(s);
- Ensure episode of care documentation is in accordance with applicable Mater frameworks, policies, procedures, work instructions, forms and guidelines
- Contribute to the holistic care of patients by contributing to the employee’s overall comfort and wellbeing with regard to the values, customs and spiritual beliefs of patients and their family/carer’s;
- Accept and adhere to all policies and procedures of Mater and your employment location;
- Undertake other duties/responsibilities as directed by your direct Reporting Authority or other designated authority(s).
About you
To be successful in an Assistant in Nursing role, you will have the following:
- Minimum Certificate III qualification in Individual Support or Health Services Assistance or a second year Bachelor of Nursing student with first clinical placement completed
- Digital and computer proficiency, extending to Microsoft 365 applications
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other health professionals at all levels, patients and relatives
- Excellent communication, problem solving and negotiation skills
Desirable:
- Prior comparable experience as an Assistant in Nursing or Personal Care Attendant/Assistant
- Working towards the attainment of a Registered Nurse, Midwife or Enrolled Nurse qualification and in the second or final year of studies
