About the role

Expressions of interest are open for the Registered Midwife – Perinatal Loss Service, for casual shifts and ARL coverage required over the next 12 months at South Brisbane.

The Mater Mother’s Perinatal Loss Service delivers comprehensive, evidence-based care to families experiencing the loss of a baby, from early pregnancy through to full term. The service is committed to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, and parent centred clinical support. In addition to direct care, it actively contributes to clinical research and education and training in best practices for perinatal loss.

The Perinatal Loss Service is part of Clinical Services MBWH Ambulatory & Birthing Services, and as such is supported by, and reports to the Clinical Midwifery Consultant – Perinatal Loss Service.

Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the current Clinical Midwife Team.
Duties will include:
•       Staff support and mentoring in relation to perinatal loss
•       Direct care and support to grieving families
Documentation and care planning
•       Provision of ongoing bereavement support following discharge
•       Involvement in perinatal mortality audit processes
About you
The successful applicant should possess:
•       Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife (no restrictions)
•       Previous midwifery experience
•       An active interest in perinatal loss support
•       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•       Demonstrated ability to provide and promote evidenced based maternity care
•       An ability to work autonomously and function as a member of a diverse health service delivery team
