About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane are seeking expressions of interest from experienced, motivated and enthusiastic applicants for a maximum-term, full time opportunity to act as the Clinical Nurse Consultant and lead the Stomal Therapy/Wound Care team for 4 weeks commencing 28/7/25. The successful applicant will be required to work Monday to Friday day shifts.
Our team of industry professionals work together as a cohesive and collaborative unit, going above and beyond to provide an exceptional level of care, while maintaining the highest clinical standards, for the patient and the department.
Salary range: $66.85 - $72.58 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
This role will see you demonstrate your commitment to providing quality clinical care. Mater’s Stomal Therapy team has a strong commitment to the Mater mission and values, with staff striving to offer a compassionate and highly skilled service to patients.
As a valued member of the team you will:
- Demonstrate an expert patient-centred consultancy service to a diverse patient population, providing quality care to patients with stomas, wounds & skin integrity issues
- Apply advanced Stomal Therapy and Wound Management knowledge and clinical skills to optimise patient health outcomes
- Work autonomously and collaboratively with teams to align practice with department, business and strategic goals
- Provide education to Mater staff to develop clinical knowledge & skills within this specialty
- Collaborate and liaise with multi-disciplinary teams internally and externally to ensure optimal patient outcomes promoting best practice
About you
To be considered suitable for this role you must have:
- Current AHPRA registration (no restrictions) with 5+ years’ experience working within an adult hospital environment
- Post graduate qualification in Stomal Therapy and/or Wound Management
- Extensive experience working as a Stomal Therapy/Wound management nurse
- Experience managing CHAITs and MACEs
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development activities relevant to Stomal Therapy and/or wound care
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously to top of scope with highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- High level communication skills when liaising with patients, families and staff within professional, legal and ethical parameters
- Exceptional organisation and time management skills
- High level competence in using electronic information systems such as patient information systems, as well as Microsoft suite including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
The successful candidate will be hard working, enthusiastic and able to show initiative. You will be approachable with a mature and confident attitude and have the ability to work and achieve results independently.
