About the role
Mater’s Health – Revenue team is looking for a Privacy Officer to join the team! This permanent, full-time role is based at South Brisbane.
Reporting to the Manager Information Privacy Officer, this role will receive and action requests for patient information from Healthcare Providers in accordance with Mater policies, procedures, work instructions and relevant legislation.
Salary range: $38.81 - $43.16 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will undertake duties associated with receiving and actioning requests for patient information from patients and authorised third parties, including:
- Handle patient information requests, provide advice, validate authorisations, release accurate information, escalate issues, and identify process inefficiencies
- Identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain current competency requirements, report incidents promptly and address workplace health and safety concerns
- Achieve performance objectives, meet productivity and quality targets and adhere to relevant policies and procedures
About you
The successful candidate will have experience working within a Health Records Service/Department and a sound knowledge of health record management principles including the format of the health record, in addition to the following requirements:
- Familiarity with Australian Privacy Principles, release of information processes and privacy concepts
- Ability to understand medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathology for interpreting patient records
- Strong team player with attention to detail, confidentiality and ability to work independently
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, ideally with customer service experience
- Proficient in time management, organisation and task prioritisation to meet deadlines
- Experience with hospital patient administration systems, Microsoft Office applications and quick adaptation to relevant computer-based tools
