About the role                               

Mater Health is looking for a Registrar – Palliative Care/Cancer Care in a maximum term position to work across our Mater Hospital Springfield (Cancer Care Centre), Mater Hospital Brisbane (MHB), and Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC). This fulltime role is for 6 months for 2025.  

Mater Hospital Brisbane (MHB) is a level III (university) hospital with an active teaching program. MHB contains a 28-bed cancer ward for provision of integrated oncology, haematology and palliative care and a large ambulatory care facility. The co-located Mater Private Hospital (MPHB) provides private inpatient oncology facilities and the Mater Research Institute and provides research support. The Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) offers a modern state-of-the-art facility that provides individually personalised, comprehensive, and compassionate care. The centre includes specialist suites, consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy, enabling a holistic approach to cancer care all from the one convenient location.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide outpatient services (supervised by a specialist) at Mater Hospital Springfield Cancer Care Centre.
  • Provide outpatient services (supervised by a specialist) at Mater Hospital Brisbane Cancer Care Centre.
  • Provide consultative cancer care support to inpatient and outpatient services at Mater Hospital Springfield.
  • Participate in on call cancer service roster at Mater Hospital Brisbane
  • Support and contribute to teaching and mentoring junior medical and nursing staff.
  • Engage in departmental teaching activities and support clinical trials and research in collaboration with Mater Research and the University of Queensland.

About you

  • You are a registered Medical Practitioner with relevant training and interest in palliative care +/- oncology +/- haematology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience or interest in teaching and clinical research is desirable but not essential.
