About the role
Mater Hospital South Brisbane is looking for a Business Support Officer for the Emergency Department on a fixed term 4 week leave cover for period of end of July to end of August.
Salary range: $38.81 - $43.16 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The Senior Business Support Officer Administration Officer for the Emergency Department is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the department and supporting the staff in delivering high-quality patient care.
The core function of the role is to support the daily administrative operational requirements of the Emergency Department with a specific focus on operational efficiency. This position will proactively perform tasks relating to service delivery, business support, systems administration, and any other tasks as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager, ensuring work performed is exceptional, every time.
The role will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and will be responsible for supporting the management of resources to meet business needs and growth.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Actively participate in supporting a collaborative team culture by applying and adhering to Mater’s Behavioural Standards and Code of Conduct
- Provide administrative assistance to the Nurse Unit Manager, including managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and handling correspondence
- Support recruitment and orientation of new team members
- Actively partner with consumers and patients, as well as interprofessional colleagues, to support service and operational objectives that provide an exceptional experience and outcomes, every time
- Assist in managing staffing levels by coordinating shift schedules, handling time-off requests, and ensuring adequate coverage to meet patient needs.
- Support the coordination of meetings and events, recording and distributing agendas and meeting minutes with clearly articulated action items
- Participate in the implementation of projects, undertaking training and education as necessary
- Apply knowledge of the applicable work instruction/s and enterprise agreement to support rostering within the work unit
- Apply the principles of Speaking With Good Judgement in all interactions with colleagues and peers
About you
- Experience using Health Information Systems (or equivalent)
- Intermediate Microsoft package skills
- Certification/tertiary qualification in Business Administration (or similar) highly regarded
- Proven experience working in a team within the Medical/Healthcare profession desirable
- The ability to balance conflicting demands within tight timeframes
- Ability to maintain composure and positivity in times of change
