About the role
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is looking for a motivated Housekeeping Coordinator to join the team on a permanent full-time basis, located at our Mater Bundaberg campus.
The Housekeeping Coordinator is responsible for ensuring an efficient and effective service across the hospital setting. This is achieved by providing direct support and coordination of housekeeping staff with a clear focus on the patient experience and quality of services, on a day-to-day basis and with a future-focus for planning and decision-making of >6 months; in operational management across human resource management, financial management and continuous improvement.
Salary range: $37.08 - $40.56 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and perform in a way that enables high quality service delivery, and a patient experience that is exceptional, every time.
- Act as the point of contact for stakeholders to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Work as part of the team to meet objectives and develop and continuously improve the work of hotel services.
- Cooperate and collaborate with management and other staff to seek and apply best practice to ensure optimum service delivery.
- Lead and build accountability within team for continuously improving standards, processes and systems that are critical to success.
- Act as an expert resource & knowledge base for colleagues
- Provide a high level of problem solving and decision making that supports the delivery of excellent patient centred care.
- Develop, implement and maintain of systems and processes that meet the operational and strategic objectives of housekeeping services with an emphasis on positive consumer experiences and expenditure minimisation.
- Coordinate or participate in initiatives that support the fostering of an agile and multidisciplinary workforce that allows for continuous and efficient housekeeping services with no disruption to business.
- Support training and monitoring initiative by ensuring equipment is appropriately operated and maintained in accordance with manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
- Meet the housekeeping service objectives by undertaking the various duties of the team(s) where necessary.
- Support the Hotel Services Manager in people management by leading and being the first point of contact for recruitment, corporate required learning, staff development/career planning, succession planning and the induction and orientation of new staff members.
- Assume responsibility for roster management including ensuring appropriate skills mix, staffing gaps are filled, taking into consideration unplanned leave, leave planning, overtime and emergency cases.
- Manage all direct staff within the team and assume responsibility for evaluating the performance of teams and individuals ensuring they have the highest level of skill necessary to meet the requirements of the roles, the organisation’s needs and objectives.
About you
- Previous experience in a hospitality related position in a health care environment or hotel industry (desired)
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to balance competing priorities, work effectively in a busy and demanding environment, and meet established deadlines, while ensuring priority and focus on patient-experience
- Demonstrated people management and leadership, and ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and Codes of Practice
