Mater Pharmacy is looking for skilled, experienced clinical pharmacist to join our team as a HP4 Senior Pharmacist position working in a full-time capacity for 12 months to provide a dedicated service to HITH as well as work in the Central Dispensary.

Salary range: $64.64 – $69.55 per hour

About the role

You will deliver high quality, evidenced-based pharmaceutical care to the variety of clinical areas serviced by the Central Pharmacy as well as a dedicated service to Mater at Home.

This position will work closely with Mater at Home managers and clinicians to provide safe, effective and accessible care beyond the hospital walls, ensuring optimal medication management for patients enrolled in HITH, Priority Care (PATH), and other non-admitted services. You will also be involved in working to further develop the role to support the growing activity of Mater at Home.

You will also work closely with the Pharmacist Team Leaders and other Senior Pharmacists to ensure a high standard of service and continuity of care is provided by focussing on both clinical service provision and staff training & development. You will use high level knowledge, skills and experience to represent pharmacy and provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team.

What you’ll be doing

In this role you will provide a service to HITH for some dedicated time each weekday including the following:

  • work collaboratively with the Mater at Home multidisciplinary team, by providing expert clinical advice, medication reviews, and education to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
  • ensure quality use of medicines, promote medication safety, and support continuity of care across transitions between hospital and home
  • ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and clinical practice standards related to medication management in community-based care
  • contribute to the development and refinement of clinical protocols, procedures, and service delivery models that support safe and effective care in non-admitted and home-based settings
  • collaborate with Mater at Home leadership and clinical teams to develop and implement innovative pharmacy service models that support strategic growth and improved patient flow across Mater campuses.

At other times you will

  • perform a variety of roles within the Central Pharmacy team to ensure a high quality service is maintained across the relevant public and private clinical areas, in particular to procedural areas and the Mater Infusion Centre
  • provide mentoring, coaching and clinical education for less experienced pharmacists, technicians and students in order to help develop the knowledge base of the service
  • actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities and ensure these are integrated into clinical practice, and organisational workflows
  • contribute to the development of relevant policies, procedures and work instructions
  • represent pharmacy on relevant working groups and service level initiatives and communicate input and outcomes with pharmacy management
  • providing medication related information, advice and support to the multidisciplinary team
  • ability to work well in a team environment, contribute to strong safety culture and collaboration within the broader Mater Pharmacy team and with all Mater Health staff.

The successful candidate will continue to contribute to the extended hours service for all our hospitals so the role will require you to participate in the evening, public holiday, weekend and on-call rosters.

About you

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy and APHRA registration to practice as a pharmacist (without restrictions)
  • Minimum of three years post registration experience as a clinical pharmacist.

Desired qualities:

  • ANZCAP recognition at registrar or consultant level in a relevant specialty area
  • Undertaking or completion of post graduate level study (e.g. Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, Masters, PhD) in clinical pharmacy and/or completion of relevant AdPha specialty training courses
