About the role
An exciting internal opportunity exists for an experienced senior Nurse to advance their career to become a Clinical Nurse Consultant within the Mater Cancer Care Centre for the Women’s Survivorship Nurse Navigation Role. This position will be offered on a maximum-term full-time basis to cover Annual Leave 01/09/2025 – 23/09/2025.
Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) offers services to both public and private patients within a modern state-of-the-art facility which provides individually personalised, comprehensive and compassionate care. The MCCC includes specialist suites, consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy.
Salary range: $66.85 - $72.58 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As the Women’s Cancer Care CNC will coordinate and navigate patient care within the MCCC, you will be directly responsible for the supervision, coordination and navigation of the patient’s cancer journey. Engaging directly with the patient to assist in navigating their survivorship and treatment pathways which includes their outpatient and inpatient cares in the Mater Hospital. The coordination of care should be planned to meet the patient’s individual medical and personal needs. The Women’s Cancer Care CNC is the focal touch point for patients during their survivorship journey and is responsible for the coordination of support services to see patients safely through the program to discharge. Furthermore, you will use your expert clinical expertise and knowledge to undertake comprehensive holistic assessments to identify complex patients to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The role will develop evidence-based assessment tools specifically for women who are survivors’ cancer and requiring ongoing support in their journey to wellness.
About you
You will be a strong and compassionate leader who drives innovation in your field; using evidence-based research to suggest new ways of doing things and take a positive and adaptive approach to embedding change.
In addition, you will also possess:
- At least 2 years’ recent experience in a Clinical Nurse or CNC position within a Day Oncology unit
- Current and unrestricted AHPRA Nursing registration
- A post-graduate qualification or enrolled in a relevant program is highly desirable
- Apheresis experience or knowledge of desirable
- Demonstrated clinical leadership, clinical supervision, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work within and lead a team using strong negotiation and consultative skills
- Proven ability to initiate and conduct nursing research, implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence-based research
