Mater Research are looking for a Research Assistant to join the Biobank team! This full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

Salary range: $41.47 - $44.69 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The Research Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the coordination of sample collection for the Mater Research Biobank. You will be responsible for assisting in obtaining patient consent, collecting and processing samples and collaborating with clinical units and medical practitioners. Additionally, you will assist with administrative research tasks, including clinical data collection.

Working at the Mater Research Biobank, you will contribute to providing researchers with high-quality biospecimens and data to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. This role is essential for the ongoing success of translational research at Mater Research and in collaboration with our partners.

About you

The successful candidate will have completion of an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience.

  • Awareness of the Australian Clinical trial regulatory framework and guidelines (ICH GCP, NHRMC)
  • Strong organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in oral and written communication, with expertise in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Digital literacy with database and record system proficiency
  • Adaptability to learn and apply standard operating procedures to project protocols
  • Experience in medical research/laboratory science or hospital setting
  • Phlebotomy experience and knowledge of histology techniques, such as constructing tissue microarrays is highly desirable
