About the role
Mater Pharmacy is looking for a skilled, experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our Practice and Development Team, to work in a dual role as a Senior Pharmacist - Medicines Information and Clinical Trials. The role will be a HP4 Pharmacist position on a 12 month maximum-term contract, working 30 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.
Mater Health, South East Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals at South Brisbane, Redland and Springfield caring for over 500,000 patients each year including the public and private Mater Mothers Hospitals, a premier women’s health facility and Queensland’s largest maternity care provider having over 10,000 births per year.
Mater Pharmacy is dedicated to the exceptional care and service of all our patients and customers. We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service and strive to maintain the highest level of professionalism in all our services. In addition to clinical pharmacy services for patients of Mater Health, we provide traditional community pharmacy medicines and retail products to patients, visitors and staff.
Salary range: $64.64 – $69.55 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role you will
- Deliver Mater Pharmacy Practice and Development services, specifically medicines information and clinical trial services within evidence-based, patient-centred healthcare
- Provide appropriate, timely, evidence-based and authoritative medicines information and advice to support Mater affiliated clinicians in therapeutic decision-making, patient medication management, protocol development and formulary submission review
- Apply advanced clinical knowledge and professional judgement to more complex medication-related scenarios, with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision
- Conduct clinical trials in compliance with protocols, legislation, guidelines, and ethical principles
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and ethics committees for ethical conduct of clinical trials
- Support MPCTU policies, financial performance, and safe use of investigational medicinal products (IMPs)
- Undertake clinical trial establishment and close-down activities
- Perform ongoing administration tasks and dispensing/IMP accountability activities
- Assist in training pharmacists, students, and technicians involved in medicines information and clinical trials
- Educate medical and nursing staff on pharmaceutical clinical trial protocols and processes

About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in pharmacy + registration as a pharmacist (AHPRA)
Desired qualities:
- Experience in the provision of Medicines Information and/or Clinical Trials Pharmacy Services
- Familiarity with the relevant legislative Acts, standards and guidelines, Code of Practice, and with local or institutional policies, the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework and the AdPha Standard of Practice in Clinical Trials for Pharmacy Services.
- Familiarity with current practice in Clinical Trials, including policy and procedures, restrictions, adherence to privacy and confidentiality and adverse event reporting procedures
