About the role
The Mater Hospital Brisbane has an opportunity available for an experienced Senior Administration Officer to join our Emergency Department. This role will be recruited on a permanent part time basis, 32 hours per week.
As a Senior Administration Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating administrative activities within the Emergency Department. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department, providing support to medical staff, and delivering outstanding service to our patients.
Shifts are 8 hours in total and all staff are expected to be available across the 24/7 rotating roster. This is inclusive of mornings (as early as 5am), afternoons (from 1.30pm) and nights starting from 6pm) and also is inclusive of all public holidays and weekends.
Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Providing Exceptional Customer Service to patients and clients
- Processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges and the preparation of clinical forms
- Providing administrative support to clinical staff
- Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality, complying with administration, and financial policy and procedures, maintaining accurate, current and accessible files, including maintenance of records of relevant meetings and discussions
- Continually demonstrate highly developed written communication skills including ability to draft routine correspondence on behalf of senior management
- Provide administrative assistance to other senior staff and others as requested
- Exercise judgement where necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined
About you
- Highly experienced in providing medical administration support
- Highly developed time management and organisational skills
- Strong computer skills including competence in using Patient Administration systems (or the ability to quickly learn new systems)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively within a busy, fast-paced and demanding environment
