About the Role

Mater Private Hospital Redlands has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse to join the Day Procedure Unit The successful applicant will secure Permanent Full-Time employment working 38 hours a week. You will be working day and afternoon shifts Monday -Friday with an occasional Saturday shift.

The Perioperative Unit is a dedicated area caring for people through their surgery journey. The highly skilled and passionate staff provide outstanding patient-centred care to people recovering from relatively minor through to the more complex procedures. 

 Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Our Clinical Nurses provide additional leadership and advanced clinical competency to our Nursing Team. You will use your extensive experience to provide a mentorship and guiding aspect to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members, supporting the Nurse Manager in activities designed to aid the sustainability of the Clinical Stream and assist with skill development.

Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and management of patients to achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Supporting other staff in the unit to ensure provision of exceptional care to patients in line with best practice, Mater mission and values and policy and procedure
  • Assist/Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Assist/support Nurse Unit Manager with facilitation of quality improvements and patient safety initiatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency of service and patient care outcomes
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within a day procedures environment, in regard to admissions, recovery & discharge of patients from a busy unit.
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to plan and facilitate management of workloads
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement process and the ability to initiate coordinate and evaluate quality improvement
