About the role
The Mater Neonatal Critical Care Preterm Medical Unit is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Mater Registered Nurses to step into the role of Clinical Nurse.
We have multiple opportunities available, including permanent and maximum-term contracts offered on a part-time and full-time basis.
The Neonatal Critical Care Unit is a 79 bed perinatal tertiary referral centre which provides care for approximately 2000 babies per year. The Preterm Medical Neonatal Critical Care Unit holds 30 cots and specialises in the care of babies that have been born at Mater Mothers Hospital or retrieved into the Mater Mothers’ Hospital from 23 weeks to Term and supporting their families through this period.
Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
Please note – this role requires you to be available to work all shifts on a 24’7 roster.
What you’ll be doing
As part of our team you will be integral in the progression of evidence-based models of care which are responsive to community needs and assist by providing leadership to promote an environment that is conducive to innovation and change.
Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:
- Actively participating in contributing towards the Quality, Safety and Work, Health and Safety processes in the clinical area
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
- Provide clinical guidance, leadership and education to members of the clinical team in order to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activities
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
- Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
About you

In order to be successful in this position, you will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse with Midwife Registration
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a NCCU environment
- Postgraduate neonatal qualification or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to the continued quality improvement and best practice principles
- Demonstrated collaborative and engaging team approach and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Understanding of the Mater mission and values and the ability to engage others in living the values in NCCU
- Desired- completion or enrolment in Preceptor Workshop
