About the role

Mater Adults Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a HP3 Social Worker to work from our South Brisbane campus. The position can be offered Full-time or Part-time with the opportunity to work weekends depending on experience.  

The Mater Adults Social Work team provides specialist services to inpatients and outpatients in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, General Medical, Geriatrics, Oncology, Neurosciences, Surgical, Orthopaedics and Young Adults.

You will be joining a welcoming, friendly and professional team and will work closely with the multidisciplinary teams in varied caseloads. Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Independently undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols to achieve patient focussed outcomes
  • Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision
  • Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of clinical services
  • Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within professional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve clinical services and patient outcomes
  • Actively participate in translating research into practice
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies to facilitate patient centred care

About you

  • A degree in social work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Experience in provision of Social Work services, ideally in a health setting to patients with complex medical conditions.
  • Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care
