About the role

Mater Private Hospital Springfield has an opportunity for a qualified and experienced Clinical Nurse within Anaesthetics on a maximum term contract for 9 months, full time 38 hours per week. If you are interested in continuing with Mater permanently we are open to discussing a permanent Registered Nurse role with you for Mater Hospital Springfield at the end of the 9 month Clinical Nurse contract. 

This role provides the chance to gain valuable leadership experience while continuing to deliver high-quality clinical care in the perioperative environment. 

This clinical leadership role provides and supports the delivery of high-quality patient care, where advanced clinical skills and knowledge underpin care coordination, collaboration and communication within the Nursing and interdisciplinary team. The CN provides operational leadership when delegated by the NUM.

Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Our Perioperative Clinical Nurses provide additional leadership and advanced clinical competency to our Nursing Team. You will use your extensive experience to provide a mentorship and guiding aspect to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members, supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in activities designed to aid the sustainability of the Clinical Stream and assist with skill development.

Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise in anaesthetics and PACU and knowledge of procedures and management of patients to achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Promoting and contributing to evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrating leadership in professional standards, patient safety, and clinical education
  • Assisting with rostering, allocation, and management of work hours using Kronos and Confluence
  • Supporting other staff in the unit to ensure provision of exceptional care to patients in line with best practice, Mater mission and values and policy and procedure
  • Assist/Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Assist/support Nurse Unit Manager with facilitation of quality improvements and patient safety initiatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency of service and patient care outcomes
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the PACU/anaesthetics environment
  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Availability to work across all shifts, weekends and on call
  • Experience in theatre coordination and workflow management.
  • Experience in rostering systems (Kronos, Confluence) and managing staff work hours.
  • Previous or current clinical nurse (or similar) experience
  • Post graduate certificate qualification- desirable
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to plan and facilitate management of workloads
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement process and the ability to initiate coordinate and evaluate quality improvement
