About the role
We are seeking those looking to work full time as a rotational Junior or Senior House Officer within our service, to provide medical care under the supervision and direction of Registrars and Senior Medical staff.
What you’ll be doing
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Interviewing, examining and identifying patients and evaluating clinical problems;
- Planning overall clinical care;
- Selecting and organising appropriate investigations;
- The day to day review of patients and safe handover of patient care to afterhours staff;
- Documentation of the patient’s progress in the patient record;
- The timely preparation of discharge letters, discharge summaries and other
- Reports as required by the Hospital;
- The provision of assistance in operating theatres including a remote surgical assist roster;
- Assisting with case presentations at teaching meetings.
Rotational JHO and SHOs at the Mater have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of departments (dependent on availability) including:
Anaesthetics | Cardiology | Critical Care – SHO | Colorectal Surgery | Emergency Medicine | ENT/Max Fac Surgery |Gastroenterology | General Medicine/Rheumatology| General Surgery/Upper GI/HPB | Gynaecological Oncology | Haematology | Intensive Care | Endocrinology & Infectious Diseases | Renal | Neonatology | Neurology | Obstetrics and Gynaecology | Oncology and Palliative Care | Orthopaedic Surgery | Paediatrics (at Queensland Children’s Hospital) | Plastic Surgery | Respiratory Medicine | Urology | Vascular Surgery.
Salary range: $94 812 - $102 104 per annum plus superannuation (commensurate with experience). Any penalty or overtime payments are in addition.
Please note: The annual medical recruitment for Junior Medical Staff (Interns, JHO’s and SHO’s) is completed predominately via the yearly Queensland Intern and RMO Campaigns for positions starting at the beginning of each clinical year. About you
To be considered for a position applicants should:
- Be eligible for General or Provisional Registration with AHPRA.
- Have at least 1 year relevant clinical postgraduate experience in Australia or a Country of Competent Authority according to AHPRA
