Mater Hospital Brisbane Emergency Department is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join our team. In this role, the RN provides contemporary, evidence-based nursing care to patients throughout their emergency department stay.

As an RN in the MHB ED, you will have the opportunity to progress through all roles in the department, where appropriate, including roles within the resuscitation team and triage team.

About the role

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, implement nursing interventions and plans of care and evaluate nursing care
  • Provide patient and family centred care using best practice, within the standard of practice of an RN
  • Communicate effectively and engage with members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives and visitors whilst displaying a high level of professional nursing care
  • Achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient ED journey, with a focus on continuum of care
  • Respond appropriately to sudden alterations in the health status of the patient using comprehensive nursing assessment and intervention skills
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • Demonstrate evidence of increasing autonomy and professional judgement in the clinical environment as the employee moves from a beginning practitioner to experienced clinician

The Mater Hospital Brisbane Emergency Department offers a 24-hour comprehensive emergency service for public adult patients, seeing approximately 50,000 patients per year.  The department provides care to patients over the age of 16, with acute illness and injuries including Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Orthopedic and Gynaecological emergencies. Care is provided by a large multidisciplinary team of emergency doctors, nurses, and allied health.

Salary range: $41.47 - $53.30 (Registered Nurse Level 1) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

About you

To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate: 

  • Contemporary clinical knowledge of Emergency nursing
  • The ability to provide patient and family centred care using evidence-based practice within the standard of practice of a Registered Nurse
  • The ability to communicate effectively and engage with a multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives and visitors
  • The ability to build and maintain strong relationships, effectively communicate and a support a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team
  • Active contribution to the learning and development of yourself and others
  • Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care

Mandatory Requirements:

  • AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
