About the role
Mater Private Bundaberg
has exciting opportunities for Assistant in Nursing to join the team within the Perioperative Team on a permanent full time basis. This role is working across the Perioperative Unit, including Operating Theatres, CSSD, Day Surgery and Preadmission.  

Salary range: $33.20 - $36.35 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing
The Assistant in Nursing assists and supports the clinical teams in the provision of safe and quality patient-centred care under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse; whatever the case may be.

  • Assist in the provision of care and support of patients within the scope of Assistant in Nursing practice, professional expertise and recognised competencies by undertaking the following non-exhaustive practices if required:
  • Gathering information about patient care needs through observation and notification to senior clinical staff of identified changes in the health and functional status of patients in a timely manner;
  • Undertaking observations and assessments;
  • Following the direction and delegation of the appropriate senior clinical staff member;
  • Assisting with the patient’s personal hygiene, appearance and dietary consumption needs; and
  • Maintaining a safe, sanitary and secure environment for patients.
  • Adhere to care plans to contribute to the optimal care outcomes in collaboration with members of the clinical team(s);
  • Ensure episode of care documentation is in accordance with applicable Mater frameworks, policies, procedures, work instructions, forms and guidelines;
  • Organise workload to prioritise critical care processes in consultation with the appropriate senior clinical staff member;
  • Contribute to the holistic care of patients by contributing to the employee’s overall comfort and wellbeing with regard to the values, customs and spiritual beliefs of patients and their family/carer’s; and
  • Coach, mentor and support colleagues where appropriate with regard to own level of expertise

About you
To be successful:

  • Minimum Certificate III qualification in Individual Support or Health Services Assistance or studying towards equivalent or higher qualification;
  • Prior comparable experience as an Assistant in Nursing or Personal Care Attendant/Assistant (desired); and
  • Digital and computer proficiency, extending to Microsoft 365 applications
