About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville has an exciting opportunity for Enrolled Nurses interested in Day Surgery Unit / Peri Operative Admission’s & Discharge Unit to join the Perioperative Team at Hyde Park. This is a permanent part-time role with 24-32 hours available per week. Candidates must be available across all shift types, including early, and lates.

Working under supervision within the Peri Operative Services group, you will work as part of an established proactive team supporting Registered Nurses in the provision of safe, quality patient care. Mater Townsville Perioperative Unit specialises in surgical procedures including gynaecology, general surgery, plastics, urology, ophthalmology, and chronic pain. The team prides itself on giving the highest standards of care to our patients and outstanding clinical support to our team of surgeons and anaesthetists.

Salary Range: $35.92 - $38.21 (EN) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you'll be doing

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Utilising a structured approach carry out comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of patients
• Within scope of practice, implements planned evidence-based nursing interventions
• Act as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to procedures
• Contribute to the maintenance of an environment which promotes safety, security and personal integrity of individual patients and groups
• Maintain and adhere to Infection Control policies and practices
• Complies with organisational policies, procedures, work instructions and guidelines
• Ensure confidentiality of corporate and patient information

About you

To be successful in your application you will have:

• Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (no restrictions)
• Recent nursing experience in an acute hospital setting as an Enrolled nurse (at least 1-year post-graduate experience)
• Prior experience in medication management
• Advanced interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
• The ability to work well autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
