About the role

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane Perioperative Department is looking to appoint an experienced Registered Nurse to the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU)/Recovery team on a permanent full time basis.

Salary range: $41.74 – $53.53  per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Our Perioperative Clinical Nurses provide additional leadership and advanced clinical competency to our Nursing Team. You will use your extensive experience to provide a mentorship and guiding aspect to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members, supporting the Nurse Manager in activities designed to aid the sustainability of the Clinical Stream and assist with skill development. Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and management of patients to achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Supporting other staff in the unit to ensure provision of exceptional care to patients in line with best practice, Mater mission and values and policy and procedure
  • Assist/Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Assist/support Nurse Unit Manager with facilitation of quality improvements and patient safety initiatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency of service and patient care outcomes
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Extensive experience within a Recovery / PACU environment
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to plan and facilitate management of workloads
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement process and the ability to initiate coordinate and evaluate quality improvement
