About the role

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton is offering an exciting opportunity for an Administration Support Officer to join our team in Patient Bookings. This is a full-time, fixed term contract for 6 months (from August 2025). 

Patient Bookings team is essential for coordinating appointments and ensuring smooth patient flow within the hospital.

Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour +12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

  • Support hospital-wide administration, ensuring adherence to procedures within wards/clinical areas
  • Maintain accurate and current patient records, results, and documentation
  • Clear, polite phone and in-person communication with patients, staff, and providers
  • Arranging all required paperwork for admission into hospital
  • Support pre-admission and admission processes as needed
  • Friendly, empathetic approach to patient needs and concerns
  • Keep patient management systems updated with relevant details and statuses
  • Assist the revenue team with financial checks and patient expense collections
  • Handling multiple calls, appointments, and priorities efficiently
  • Maintain a tidy work station with strict confidentiality of patient information

About you

To be successful in your application you will have:

  • High level of customer service, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Excellent phone manners
  • Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective administration support in a timely and organised manner
  • Previously experience in a hospital or health care environment (highly desired)
  • Accurate data entry skills with a high-level computer proficiency, including in Microsoft Office and departmental data bases and other software applications
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Medical terminology
  • Health insurance and referral processes
  • Certificate III in Health Administration, or similar is desirable but not essential
