About the role

Mater Pathology currently has an opportunity for an experienced manager to join our team as our Pathology Collections Billing & Business Development Manager. This exciting opportunity will be based at our South Brisbane campus where you will be offered a 12-month maximum term contract working 38 hours a week.

As the Collections Billing & Business Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality pre-analytical services to our patients and customers. You will lead a team of Collection Supervisors and Billing Coordinators, overseeing the customer-facing collections processes and back-end billing functions.

With over 100 years of experience, Mater Pathology is Queensland's leading not-for-profit pathology provider, at the forefront of innovation providing a broad spectrum of unique pathology expertise through its highly skilled cohesive team of pathologists and scientific, technical and administration staff.

Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Supervising collections processes in both inpatient and collection centres
  • Managing billing back-office functions
  • Overseeing business development initiatives
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with NATA, NPAAC, and Medicare requirements
  • Managing team members, budgets, and service performance
  • Driving continuous improvement in business processes
  • Leading teams through periods of change
  • Managing operational budgets and resource allocations
  • Identifying and addressing compliance and risk issues
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders for business development
  • Providing leadership and coaching to team members
  • Ensuring delivery of quality outcomes aligned with Mater's strategic plan

About you

  • 5-10 years of management experience in a Hospital/Healthcare setting
  • Experience in a laboratory for healthcare diagnostic services desirable
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proven track record in managing teams and driving results
  • Knowledge of accreditation, compliance processes, and risk management
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellence
