About the role
The Mater Mothers’ Hospital Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) team is currently seeking two Clinical Midwives to join the team. This is a maximum-term position for 6 months, with the possibility of extension, working 34-38 hours per week.
We have two positions available:
Clinical Midwife – Coorparoo
Clinical Midwife - OMGP
Mater’s MGP Program enables women to be cared for and supported by a group of known midwives throughout their pregnancy, during birth and in the early weeks at home with a new baby. This model recognises the benefits of continuity of care and enables midwives to work flexibly and to their full scope of practice. Midwifery Group Practice at Mater is made up of 9 all-risk-teams , each team comprises of 4-5 midwives. In the OMGP team you will be caring for a smaller caseload of women who have additional medical complexities such as pre-existing diabetes or cardiac conditions.
Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 (RN2) per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
This role requires enthusiastic and dedicated midwives to provide exceptional care to a dedicated caseload of women with complex medical conditions throughout the pregnancy continuum. It is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a highly skilled and professional multi-disciplinary team, utilising your enthusiasm and midwifery passion for the delivery of best practice within a supportive and professional environment.
You will enjoy demonstrating your excellent communication skills and building relationships to ensure exceptional patient care within a supportive multi-disciplinary team. You will work within a culturally sensitive and safe environment providing care to women with pre-existing medical conditions which may impact their experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenting. It is our intention that continuity of midwifery care will allow for exceptional clinical oversight and support for these clients leading to improved outcomes.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Covering an on-call roster to provide evidence-based continuity of care for women from antenatal to intrapartum and up to 6 weeks postnatal
- Working within the community and hospital environment
- Working in partnership with women and the multidisciplinary team
- Supporting the Midwifery Unit Manager in service development and data collection
About you
To be considered for a role, you must have:
- Current registration with AHPRA (no restrictions)
- Recent experience working in antenatal, birth suite and postnatal settings
- Experience of providing continuity of care to women (Desirable not essential)
- Demonstrated high levels of communication (both written and verbal) and clinical problem-solving skills
- Evidence of continuing educational and professional development
- Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
- Ability to work in a team environment including the larger multidisciplinary team
You will also have excellent communication skills, be hard working, self-directed, enthusiastic, approachable and display both initiative and a high level of motivation.
