Mater is looking for dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our team at Mater Hospital Springfield's Intensive Care Unit (ICU). These are permanent positions available on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 0.5 FTE), with a start date as soon as possible.

Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you'll deliver holistic, patient-centred nursing care across all aspects of the ICU, working collaboratively within a skilled multidisciplinary team. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering safe, efficient and compassionate nursing care with consideration for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient
  • Contributing to a culture of safety and quality by adhering to infection control practices, organisational policies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate, manage and evaluate patient care activities
  • Advocating for patients and supporting them in their own healthcare decision-making
  • Participating in the teaching and mentoring of nursing students and less experienced staff
  • Maintaining and expanding your professional knowledge through ongoing education and evidence-based practice
  • Practising in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's standards, relevant legislation and Mater's values

About you

You're a skilled and motivated nurse who thrives in a fast-paced critical care environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience in, or a strong interest in, intensive care nursing
  • A commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and evidence-based practice
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • The ability to exercise sound clinical judgement and accept accountability for your own practice
  • A genuine passion for professional development — both your own and that of your colleagues
