About the role

Mater Private Hospital Redland is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team. Commencing in early January 2026, this 6mth maximum term contract (38 hours per week) will play a key role in supporting our occupational therapist team.

The Allied Health department at Mater Hospital Redland delivers a wide range of private and public acute health and rehabilitation services. Our Occupational Therapy team provides specialist care to inpatients and outpatients with diverse health conditions. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-level clinical services across a broad caseload, while providing leadership and mentorship within the department and multidisciplinary teams. You will also lead quality improvement initiatives to ensure patient-centred, evidence-based care.

Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a complex and varied caseload independently, applying advanced clinical judgment and evidence-based practice.
  • Deliver specialist services in Lymphoedema and/or Oedema Management.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced clinicians, allied health assistants, students, and volunteers.
  • Oversee operational management of workflows and prioritisation within the Occupational Therapy team.
  • Contribute to clinical education, including student practicums.
  • Lead quality improvement projects and influence clinical practice and processes.
  • Collaborate on research activities and promote a strong research culture.
  • Engage effectively with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to provide expert clinical advice.
  • Drive the development of new models of care, procedures, and protocols to enhance service delivery.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Eligibility for a Medicare provider number.
  • Demonstrated high-level clinical practice and independent judgment in Occupational Therapy.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to contribute to decision-making and resolve conflict within teams.
  • Proven experience in clinical leadership, mentorship, and supervision.
  • A track record of initiating and evaluating quality and service improvement activities.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and fostering a positive team culture.
