About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse to join our Stomal therapy / Wound nursing team at our South Brisbane campus. This opportunity is offered as a part-time (16 hours per week), maximum-term contract for 12 months, providing a great balance for nurses looking to develop and extend their stoma and wound management knowledge along with maintaining clinical practice within a supportive environment. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within inpatient and outpatient areas, contributing to positive experiences and outcomes for patients and families. 

Salary range: $41.73 - $54.54 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care for patients requiring stomal therapy/wound management support throughout their journey. 

  • Provide high-quality, patient-focused nursing care aligned with professional standards 

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and plan care in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team with a focus on stoma and wound management. 

  • Implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing stomal therapy/wound interventions and initiate appropriate referrals 

  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring informed consent and supporting patients through education and decision-making 

  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, allied health and community services to coordinate care 

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, patient safety and infection control practices 

About you

You are a dedicated Registered Nurse who is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care in line with Mater’s Mission and Values and hold a special interest in Stomal therapy and Wound management 

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) 

  • Minimum of one year’s post-registration experience in a relevant clinical setting 

  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team 

  • Strong interest in developing skills and capability in Stomal therapy/Wound Care 

  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and professional development 

  • Demonstrated alignment with Mater’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
