About the role
Mater Research (MR) has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Postdoctoral Research Officer to join our leading Cancer Immunotherapies group developing next generation cancer vaccines. This is a full-time, permanent position based at the Translational Research Institute in Brisbane.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The Senior Research Officer will be leading an exciting project developing next generation DC1 dendritic cell vaccines for cancer.
This role involves designing and conducting experiments using a variety of approaches including molecular biology, in vitro primary human cell culture, in vivo humanized mouse tumour models, data analysis, contributing to publications and collaborative research efforts as well as providing mentorship and supervision to junior lab members and students.
About you
To be considered for this position, you will possess:
- PhD and at least 3-5 years postdoctoral research experience in a relevant field eg cancer immunology
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of high-quality research outputs including publications and conference presentations
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute to the research outcomes as part of an effective team, while independently establishing work priorities
- Strong academic track record and technical laboratory skills including culture of primary human immune cells, T cell assays, molecular biology, high dimensional flow cytometry and bioinformatics.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff and students
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work demands meet deadlines and balance competing tasks
- Appropriate digital literacy skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, statistical analysis software, Endnote referencing tool, and NCBI Resources including PubMed
