Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for an Private Endorsed Clinical Midwife - Midwifery Group Practice to join us in a permanent, full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Join our Continuity of Midwifery Care team at Mater Hospital Springfield, where Endorsed Midwives collaborate closely with Consultant Obstetricians to provide seamless antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care. Women receive shared antenatal appointments, continuous support during labour from their primary Midwife or team partner, and expert Consultant attendance at birth. Families enjoy personalised care in our private maternity ward and ongoing postnatal support in the community for four weeks.
Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing
As an Endorsed Midwife, you will provide advanced, Medicare-funded midwifery care, including ordering diagnostic tests and prescribing medication, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional, evidence-based care across the pregnancy, birth, and newborn period.
- Deliver comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care within scope of practice and professional standards.
- Conduct thorough, outcome-focused patient assessments and develop individualised care plans.
- Prescribe and administer medications and order diagnostic tests and ultrasounds relevant to maternity care.
- Collaborate closely with Consultant Obstetricians, Nursing staff and community services to ensure continuity of care.
- Advocate for patients, ensuring informed consent and sensitive communication throughout care delivery.
- Lead and participate in the development and implementation of innovative models of care promoting continuity and improved outcomes.
- Mentor and support colleagues, students and interdisciplinary staff to foster professional growth and best practice standards.
- Maintain compliance with organisational policies, infection control, safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as a clinical leader, role model and change agent, promoting research and evidence-based practice.
- Manage resources effectively and support the achievement of clinical unit goals, ensuring accountability and high standards of care.
About you
The successful candidate will have a current, unrestricted registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board as a Registered Nurse/Midwife – Endorsed.
- Minimum of three years full-time equivalent clinical experience in the relevant specialty.
- Proven experience working effectively in the specialty area you are applying for.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, coordination, and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently within a busy, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Tertiary qualifications or ongoing study in the relevant clinical specialty are highly regarded but not essential
- Postgraduate qualification in the relevant specialty or actively working towards one is highly desirable.
