About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay is currently seeking a Pastoral Care Practitioner to join our team on a casual basis , supporting leave coverage.
The Pastoral Care Practitioner will contribute to the provision of high-quality pastoral care for patients and their families. The Pastoral Care Practitioner supports the Mission Integration Manager and Pastoral Care Manager, visiting clergy and staff to ensure that the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and their families are met.
Salary range: Pay will be commensurate to qualifications, plus Casual Loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

You will be responsible for:
Provide flexible leave support across weekdays
Support patients, families, and staff with compassionate emotional and spiritual care
Be a calm, empathetic presence in moments that matter most
Provide inclusive, faith-aware support that respects all beliefs
Bring Mater’s Mission and Values to life through meaningful events and rituals
Work alongside clinical teams to deliver truly holistic care, prioritising patient wellbeing
Help coordinate memorial services with dignity and care
Commit to your own growth through supervision and ongoing learning
Contribute to wider Mission initiatives
About you
Experienced in providing Pastoral Care, counselling, psychology, studies in theology or a related field
Committed to ongoing learning and professional growth
A collaborative team player who thrives in multidisciplinary environments
Skilled at building trust, rapport, and meaningful connections
Confident working both independently and as part of a team
Culturally aware, with a respectful and inclusive approach to diverse beliefs and backgrounds
Comfortable using digital system and technology
