About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for Undergraduate Pharmacy Students to join our Hospital Services team to work as a Pharmacy Technician working on a casual basis.
Shifts are predominantly in the evenings, weekends and public holidays, with additional weekday shifts offered from time to time.
Mater Health Services, South East Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals caring for over 500,000 patients each year. Our South Brisbane campus contains the Mater Public Hospital, Mater Private Hospital, Mater Children’s Private and Mater Mother’s Public and Private Hospital, and our Springfield campus has both public and private hospital services across a variety of specialty areas.

Salary range: $32.02 - $34.16 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will work closely with hospital pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to deliver a safe, effective and high-quality level of pharmacy service to optimise outcomes for all patients and customers of Mater.
In the hospital dispensary you will be responsible for delivering a consistently high level of pharmacy service to all clinical areas, which will include:
- Receiving requests for medication supply from all areas
- Assembling and delivering dispensed medications
- Monitoring and maintaining appropriate stock levels in the pharmacy and in clinical area imprest sites across the Mater campus
- cold chain management of refrigerated and frozen medications
- Answering phone calls from both internal and external customers and patients
- Providing responsive customer-focused service
There may also be the opportunity to undertake training in our on-site Production facility which compounds a variety of sterile, non-sterile and cytotoxic medications.
Pharmacy students work various evening, weekend and public holiday shifts in the dispensary as well as having the opportunity for some additional weekday shifts especially during university breaks.
This role will be based predominantly at our South Brisbane and Springfield campuses with the opportunity to also work at Mater Redland from time to time.
About you
To be considered for this role you must:
- Be studying Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2026
- Have a professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Be willing to work evenings (from 5.00pm) on weeknights
- Be willing to work full days (between 7.00am and 6.00pm) on weekends and public holidays
- Be willing to work in a roster with other Pharmacy Students
- The ability to work shifts at both Mater South Brisbane and Mater Springfield is highly desirable
