Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking passionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) on a permanent full-time or part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing perioperative service within one of Queensland’s newest hospitals, working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Registered Nurse within PACU, you will play a key role in providing safe, high-quality care to patients recovering from anaesthesia and surgical procedures. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver comprehensive, patient-focused nursing care within the PACU environment
- Monitor and assess patients during the immediate post-operative recovery phase
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate care appropriately
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and evaluate patient care
- Support a strong culture of safety, quality improvement, and patient advocacy
- Participate in ongoing professional development, education, and mentoring opportunities
- Contribute to a positive team environment and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to Mater policies, procedures, and professional standards
About you
You are a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced perioperative environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
- Previous experience within PACU, Recovery, Perioperative or High Acuity Care nursing environments (such as ICU, CCU or Emergency)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering patient-centred care aligned with Mater’s values
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively in a dynamic clinical setting
- A proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning
