About the role

Mater Hospital South Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for passionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join in the Cancer Care - Transit lounge. This position is permanent full time, 38 hours per week.

Salary range: $42.99 - $55.14 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

You will facilitate timely inpatient discharges and efficient transfer of patients to and from outpatients department as an integral part of the Transit Lounge Team.

Your duties will include but not limited to:

• Patient care involving medications, dressings and observations
• Data entry and computer use for transfers using TRAIS IPM outlook Verdi trendcare
• Liaising and negotiating with all other care providers and stakeholders within the hospital
• Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
• Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
• Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
• Working collaboratively with the nursing team to provide exceptional care every time
• Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

• Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
• Intravenous medication competency
• Recent practice experience
• Experience with Transit/Discharge setting is highly advantageous
• Ability to work in an ever-changing and fast paced environment
• A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
• Highly developed computer and data entry skills
• Commitment to ensuring the levels of service is always delivered to patients at all times
